Grace's 90th Birthday Party!
Come Celebrate Grace Richard's 90th Birthday at Wildwood!
Married to Merv for more than 30 years, Grace has an intimate relationship with Wildwood that is heartwarming yet heartbreaking. While Merv practiced ecoforestry over the years, Grace kept the homefires burning. She raised the foster children, grew most of their food, and contributed funds from her wealthy Dutch family to keep the family going.
When the original Homestead burned down in 1963, it was Grace who designed the spacious Homestead that Merv then built. Eventually, she left Wildwood to pursue a life of her own, becoming a very successful businesswoman and remarrying.
She has a lifetime of stories to share and is looking forward to meeting the people who have supported and shaped Wildwood into what it is now. There is no higher praise than when Grace tells us she loves how EIS is stewarding her precious Wildwood.
Enjoy an afternoon of celebration with refreshments, including Wildwood shortbread and woodland tea, as well as live music from Ripple Rock Band, a six-piece band from Central Vancouver Island specializing in covers of 50s, 60s, and 70s music. The band features Patrick Carpenter (lead guitar/vocals), Rick Haug (lead vocals/bass guitar), Michael Anderson (guitar/vocals), Mercedes Courtoreille (lead vocals), James Darling (keys/vocals), and Natasha Hoskins (drums).
For this special event, the band is pleased to welcome vocalist, songwriter, and performer Laura Kelsey as a special guest!
