Tours of Wildwood
Public Tours
Date: Third Sunday of every month, 1:00-3:00
Cost: $20/person
Location: Wildwood Ecoforest, 2929 Crane Rd, Ladysmith
Tours of Wildwood are open to the public by registration and conducted by one of our knowledgeable naturalists. These tours are your opportunity to learn about ecoforestry, and how Wildwood is an important component in our global efforts to fight climate change.
Wildwood is the only active, demonstration ecoforest in British Columbia. See for yourself what this alternative method of managing our forests has to offer!
Please keep in mind that even though the actual distance walked is less than 2 km, it is a forest trail with a steep hill up a gravel road and you will be on your feet for the entire duration. This tour is more suitable for adults and kids who can walk and stand for up to 2 hours. For shorter kid friendly events, please check out our events calendar.
Do you have accessibility needs? Please contact us at education@ecoforestry.ca to see how we can facilitate your visit. We have a TrailRider available and would be happy to discuss any other ways in which we could make this visit accessible for you.
Important: If you are wanting to sign up for a tour that is a week or less away, please contact us at education@ecoforestry.ca as our system closes booking availability a week out. Please also note that we prefer a minimum of four participants - invite your friends to register!
Private Tours
Are you interested in booking a private tour for your family, workplace, club, or other? This is a great way to learn what ecoforestry is. Our guide will take you through the Wildwood Ecoforest to see for yourself what biodiversity is and why this is important to our planet and you. You will learn of the diverse ecosystems that typify an old-growth forest, and how this is critical in fighting climate change and to provide health benefits for all.
Choose from a land management ecoforestry tour for professional foresters and land owners led by one of our forestry committee members or a general introduction to ecoforestry and Wildwood led by one of our knowledgeable naturalists.
Note that private tours are $40/person and must be organized at minimum two weeks in advance.
