Elastic Spaces celebrates the partnership between the Ecoforestry Institute Society, Concordia University Associate Professor Emeritus Leila Sujir and Elder Bill Jones of the Pacheedaht First Nation. This digital arts project has spanned seven years when Professor Sujir and her team first worked with Elder Bill to develop an IMAX film featuring the old growth forests of Fairy Creek and the Walbran. It is a multi-disciplinary approach that bridges and melds forms of art, film, and the written and spoken word while focusing on environmental and social issues such as climate change, ethnobotany and forestry. This is a unique intersection of academic research, environmental issues, art and protest involving people from all walks of life.
Now the project is ready to feature the book launch of Chronicles of the Forest by Elder Bill Jones, along with readings by various authors.
You are invited to join us at Wildwood at
1:30 for a Walk in Wildwood Forest with Dr Nancy Turner
2:30 for the launch of Elastic Spaces Press "Chronicles of the Forest" by Elder Bill Jones.
Please join us for this memorable event. We look forward to welcoming you to Wildwood and to sharing our collective work with you.
