We’re holding a series of work parties during March and April to get the Homestead ready and tidied for the official launch. From gardening and tree pruning to building live edge furniture and a gate, come be a part of the fun. No experience necessary.
Work parties take place most Saturdays and Sundays, from 10 to 4. Tea and light refreshments provided, even cookies! Gloves, safety glasses and all equipment provided. Check the event calendar for a date that works for you or read below. Email Sharon at firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know you’re coming and what you’d like to help out with.
Sunday, March 11: Road Cleaning and Gate Building
We’ve drilled a new well and the well drilling process produced a stream of fine rock sludge that flowed across the road. Help redistribute the sludge and repair the road. Rubber boots recommended. Also help rebuild a decayed wood access gate.
Saturday, March 17 and Sunday, March 18: DIY Furniture Building
We’re building 4 bedframes from lumber milled on the property. The lumber has already been cut and sanded, and the frames will be assembled in place in the bedrooms. We’re also building and staining a live edge dining table and a kitchen island. Come learn with us! No experience required. All materials supplied.
Saturday, April 7 and Sunday, April 8: Gardening and Cleanup
Front gardens: apply gravel; move rocks; replant camellia; plant lavender and boxwood. Dig up forest ferns and replant in garden. Tidy up wood stack in carport and organize tools. Remove junk and debris to dump.
Orchard lawn mowing and tree pruning; clean up of bank along the lake and disposal of debris.
Watch for upcoming work parties for the front deck construction and the final Homestead spring cleaning and prep before we launch the big reveal!
