Ecoforestry Institute Society Wildwood Mushroom Workshop

Bring family and friends for a walk among the old growth trees of Wildwood Ecoforest - the oldest continuously-managed ecoforest in North America. Your guide, zoologist Bruce Hepburn, will highlight key features that demonstrate sustainable forestry practices, such as leaving large old seed trees for natural regeneration and dead standing trees for woodpecker and owl nests. Please meet at the visitor centre at 1 pm and dress for the weather.   Rain or shine. Tour by donation (Suggested donation $10)

LITTLE BROWN BAT REHOUSING WORKSHOP

Presented by Felix Martinez-Nunez, MSc, RP Bio, of the South Coast Bat Conservation Society at Wildwood Wildwood is fortunate to house a precious colony of little brown bats (Myotis lucifigus), an endangered species.  For decades they have lived in the roof of the Homestead.  We are gently relocating them nearby to more suitable and specially built housing that the whole colony can enjoy.  Join us to learn more about these wild and wonderful creatures, and to help build new bat…
